The Mountainside Mavericks will challenge the Aloha Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Mountainside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Aloha's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mountainside fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sunset on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Apollos by a score of 9-7. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Apollos: they've now lost three in a row.
Natalie Kawaguchi was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubri Kruhm, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Aloha can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They put the hurt on Beaverton with a sharp 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Chiyori Brumley made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Brumley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st.
In other batting news, Avery Dimeo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Abby Dimeo was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Aloha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Mountainside's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Aloha, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-7.
