Basketball Recap: Eastern Hancock Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Eastern Hancock was feeling good fresh off their 62-37 takedown of Tri-Central on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eastern Hancock Royals came up short against the Sheridan Blackhawks on Friday, falling 57-36. The match marked the Royals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was McKenzie Koch, who posted 20 points and eight boards. The game was Koch's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Judd, who had nine points.

It was another big night for Kenzie Garner, who shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds for Sheridan. What's more, Garner also racked up five blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Mac Smith was another key player, putting up eight points.

Eastern Hancock's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-2. As for Sheridan, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Eastern Hancock will be playing in front of their home fans against Monroe Central at 1:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Eastern Hancock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season. As for Sheridan, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on University at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
