Dawson Peterson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Peterson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Peterson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Easton Green was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Cale Briggs, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Malad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ogden only managed six.
Meanwhile, Burley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Malad a 10-0 shutout.
Mack Haynes tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacoby Roe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Jake Redder was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Malad now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Burley, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
