The Liberty Charter Lions will venture away from home to take on the Vista Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Liberty Charter will head out to face Vista after giving up their first home loss of the season on Wednesday. The Lions took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison.
Adalyn Nothwang made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Summer Svendsen, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista). They blew past Orange Glen 26-6 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.
Lexi Corcuera made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Valle was incredible, firing off eight RBI, five runs, and two triples while going 5-for-5. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Gomez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Vista's record is now 4-5. As for Liberty Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty Charter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
