Centerburg extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-8 in the process. They put the hurt on the Utica Redskins with a sharp 10-1 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Morgan Beaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kayla Ferrell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chesnee Fairall, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Centerburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Utica only posted a batting average of .125.
As for Utica, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Utica's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlin Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Coming up, Centerburg will head out to face off against Westerville South at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Utica does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
