The North Olmsted Eagles will challenge the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, North Olmsted made easy work of Lorain and carried off an 11-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Tyler Zatta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks.
At the plate, Luke Healan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Darren Krider, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Wickliffe got the win against Berkshire on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Nunzio Zivnoska made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Vanatta, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Liam Widemire was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Wickliffe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkshire only posted an OBP of .250.
Wickliffe's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for North Olmsted, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
