Softball Recap: Destrehan Has No Trouble Against Haughton

Destrehan's tournament run continued when they took on Haughton on Friday. Destrehan put the hurt on Haughton with a sharp 11-3 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jolie Lozano made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Destrehan got a massive performance out of Ava Burkett, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. What's more, Burkett posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Rylie Staton, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Destrehan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Destrehan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Haughton now has a losing record of 9-10.

Destrehan has already played their next contest, a 9-1 defeat against Sam Houston on the 21st. As for Haughton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-3 loss against Iowa on the 21st.
