The Savage Warriors came tearing into Friday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Culbertson 57-40. Given Savage's advantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Cowboys are ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Culbertson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bridger Salvevold, who scored 11 points along with five steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Salvevold posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Donte Eagle Boy, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Savage's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Culbertson, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
Savage won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the R&L Fusion at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Lambert/Richey comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
