On Friday, Newcastle made easy work of Rio Vista and carried off a 39-18 win. The team accrued 30 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Despite the loss, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: Kalli West scored 9 points.
The victory got Newcastle back to even at 1-1. As for Rio Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Newcastle will be playing in front of their home fans against Ovilla Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Ovilla Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Rio Vista, they will head out on the road to face off against Archer City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
