The Desert Vista Thunder will take on the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Desert Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: O'Connor, who was ranked 12th at the time (Desert Vista was ranked 14th). The Thunder never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Friday. The game was the first time the Thunder have beaten the Eagles on their field since March 21, 2018.
Brock MacDonald and Hagen Haefs dominated on the mound. MacDonald didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched, while Haefs tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Droz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gutierrez, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Boulder Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Corona del Sol.
Sal Montes was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Chase Gilmore was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Boulder Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Desert Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Vista hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Boulder Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert Vista took their win against Boulder Creek in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
