Softball Recap: Athens' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Athens extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 8-3 in the process. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Warren Warriors. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

As for Warren, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

For Warren's part, Gracie Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Warren saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lila Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Smith's first of the season.

Looking ahead, Athens will welcome Philo at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Warren, they will venture away from home to face off against Fort Frye at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
