The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North and three for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial.
Last Tuesday, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North was the victim of a tough 53-30 loss at the hands of Pioneer. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North has not had much luck with Pioneer recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Cruz Fabela, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Mason Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 49-43 to Rowe. While losing is never fun, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1027th, while Rowe is ranked 367th).
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-7.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial were neck-and-neck when the teams last played two weeks ago, but Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North came up empty-handed after a 42-41 loss.
