Southwestern hasn't had much luck against Boyle County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m.
Southwestern is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 8th on Tuesday. They came up short against Somerset, falling 9-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Southwestern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Couch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Couch has become a key player for the Warriors: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-12 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Boyle County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Mercer County with a sharp 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Caeden Patterson's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kyler Claunch was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ethan Milburn was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Boyle County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercer County only posted an OBP of .154.
Boyle County's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-13.
Southwestern might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Boyle County in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
