South Pontotoc is 8-1 against Houston since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The South Pontotoc Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Houston Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, South Pontotoc earned a 37-29 victory over Bruce. Given South Pontotoc's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Bruce is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Houston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 24 points or more this season. They really took it to Houlka for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-30 victory at home.
The victory makes it two in a row for South Pontotoc and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Houston, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
South Pontotoc beat Houston 51-42 in their previous matchup back in January. Will South Pontotoc repeat their success, or does Houston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
