Marsing won the last time they faced New Plymouth and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Huskies put the hurt on the Pilgrims with a sharp 18-11 win. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Teagan Kinney and Luke Steinmeyer were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kinney didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Steinmeyer struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Kinney went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Steinmeyer went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave Steinmeyer a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dresden Wood and Jace Chadez did most of the damage at the plate: Wood went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Chadez got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Chadez has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Niko Godina, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
Marsing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Plymouth only posted an OBP of .229.
The victory made it two in a row for Marsing and bumps their season record up to 13-6. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 12-4-1 Nampa Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63% over those games). As for New Plymouth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
