The Norrix Knights were the 40-38 winner over the Mattawan Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Norrix fell 47-34 to Mattawan on Friday.
Leading Mattawan to victory were Caitlin Ryan and Delaney Elsmore. Ryan scored 12 points along with seven steals, while Elsmore dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Elsmore has scored at least a third of Mattawan's points. Meghan Duell was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds.
Norrix has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Mattawan, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Norrix will be playing in front of their home fans against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Mattawan, they will head out on the road to challenge Grandville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Michigan (Grandville is ranked 210th, while Mattawan is ranked 230th).
