After flying high against the Ascend Leadership Aviators last Friday, the Triangle Math & Science Tigers came back down to earth. Triangle Math & Science fell just short of Clover Garden School by a score of 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Triangle Math & Science has suffered yet this season.
Triangle Math & Science's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Ian Augustus and Zakaria Adam. Augustus scored 16 points along with five rebounds, while Adam scored 13 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Augustus scored 15 or more points.
Clover Garden School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Britt out in front who scored 20 points along with four steals. Britt continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Whitt, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Triangle Math & Science's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Clover Garden School, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triangle Math & Science won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chatham Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully Chatham Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Clover Garden School, they will be playing at home against Ascend Leadership at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ascend Leadership is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
