Crimson Cliffs is 0-10 against Snow Canyon since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will challenge the Snow Canyon Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
Crimson Cliffs is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Dixie on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Crimson Cliffs was beaten by Dixie 80-48. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Crimson Cliffs saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Coco Korella, who posted seven points and ten assists, was perhaps the best of all. Josie Myers was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points and seven boards.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Desert Hills 56-25. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Thunder are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crimson Cliffs better focus on containing Joey Jensen and Olivia Hamlin as the pair were huge in Snow Canyon's win. Jensen went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals, while Hamlin scored 25 points and seven steals. Hamlin has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 44 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Falynn Randall, who earned three points along with five boards and three steals.
Snow Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Crimson Cliffs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Snow Canyon, they pushed their record up to 18-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Crimson Cliffs has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 26.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Crimson Cliffs was dealt a bruising 76-27 loss at the hands of Snow Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Crimson Cliffs was down 44-15.
