The Foundation Academy Lions will head out to face off against the Lake Brantley Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Foundation Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Foundation Academy came out on top against Olympia on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Lions walked away with a 10-5 win over the Titans. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.
Riley Winters and Katherine Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Winters went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Johnson went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in February. Elizabeth Ozim was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Foundation Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lake Brantley entered their tilt with Horizon on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Hawks.
Lauren Compton spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Rylin Sprague was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Catharine Conway, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Foundation Academy, their record is now 12-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Foundation Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
