The Van Nuys Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Vaughn White Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Van Nuys is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Van Nuys will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Canoga Park on Wednesday. The Wolves put the hurt on the Hunters with a sharp 22-1 victory. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for the Wolves this season.
ARIEL PUENTE made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. PUENTE was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, KIMBERLY NUNEZ was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nadia Ubaldo, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Van Nuys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Vaughn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against East Valley, falling 17-5. White Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Falcons since on Friday.
Van Nuys has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Vaughn, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything went Van Nuys' way against Vaughn in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Van Nuys made off with a 28-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
