Pineville is 0-3 against Harlan County since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pineville Mountain Lions will be staying on the road to face off against the Harlan County Black Bears at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Pineville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,681 points over their last 23 matchups.
Even though Cumberland Gap scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Pineville still came out on top. Pineville took their contest against Cumberland Gap 65-57. Given Pineville's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 134th in Kentucky, while Cumberland Gap is ranked 380th in Tennessee), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harlan County was handed a two-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Harlan on Friday. Harlan County blew past Harlan, posting a 83-52 victory on the road.
Pineville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Harlan County, their win bumped their record up to 23-4.
Pineville suffered a grim 94-71 defeat to Harlan County in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Pineville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
