It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Riverview Sarasota Rams ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 67-57 win over Parrish Community. The victory was all the more spectacular given Riverview Sarasota's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Parrish Community is ranked 107th).
Riverview Sarasota was led to victory by Jayden Dudash and Jeremiah Dawson. Dudash dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Dawson scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds. The game was Dawson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Howard, who scored 11 points.
Parrish Community's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Higgins, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. Higgins scored a full 35.1% of Parrish Community's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakai Cuffy, who scored 15 points along with 8 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Riverview Sarasota and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Parrish Community, they have yet to win a match at home this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverview Sarasota is on the road again on Saturday and play against Bradenton Christian at 2:30 p.m. on December 9th. As for Parrish Community, they will take on Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
