Andrews is 8-2 against Big Spring since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Andrews Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Big Spring Steers at 7:00 p.m. Andrews is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Andrews ended up a good deal behind Brownwood and lost 28-14. While losing is never fun, Andrews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 449th, while Brownwood is ranked 113th).
Despite the loss, Andrews saw an underclassman step up: Jaesean DeBouse rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Mullen, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Big Spring was the victim of a tough 33-13 defeat at the hands of Estacado on Friday.
The losses dropped Andrews to 4-5 and Big Spring to 2-7.
Everything went Andrews' way against Big Spring in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Andrews made off with a 40-20 victory. Does Andrews have another victory up their sleeve, or will Big Spring turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
