Rock Falls has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Moline Maroons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rock Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Rock Falls had to suffer through a rough 53-20 loss at the hands of East Moline United. While losing is never fun, Rock Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while East Moline United is ranked 28th).
Despite their defeat, Rock Falls saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nicolette Udell, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Moline's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Rock Island 59-55. Moline has struggled against Rock Island recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Rock Falls has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Moline, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Rock Falls took their victory against Moline in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 63-42. Does Rock Falls have another victory up their sleeve, or will Moline turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
