Colman-Egan extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-10. They lost 20-14 to the Viborg/Hurley Cougars. Even if the C-E Hawks couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Maebe Groos stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Sadie McCorkle was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Viborg/Hurley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7-1. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
On Viborg/Hurley's side, Lexi Lindemann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Lindemann was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sierra Cordell, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Sayler, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colman-Egan will take on Arlington/Lake Preston at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Viborg/Hurley, they will square off against Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
