The Sycamore War Eagles suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 74-54 loss at the hands of Greenbrier. Sycamore was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenbrier apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Hicks Hunter and Jesse Lewis certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hunter scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Lewis scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunter has scored all season.
Greenbrier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Crumby, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Crumby scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Nate Castleman, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Sycamore has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Greenbrier, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7.
Sycamore will face off against Liberty Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenbrier, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Macon County at 7:30 p.m. Macon County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 370th, while Greenbrier is ranked 171st).
