Basketball Game Preview: Era Hornets vs. Chico Dragons

Era is 10-0 against Chico since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Era Hornets will be playing at home against the Chico Dragons at 6:45 p.m. Era has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Era is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Alvord: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Era blew Alvord out of the water with a 59-20 final score. The Hornets pushed the score to 43-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had little chance of recovering from.

Hope Pearman was a one-woman wrecking crew for Era as she went 7 for 14 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Pearman a new career-high in points. Tristan Bowles was another key player, putting up nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Chico fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Slidell on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Greyhounds 52-46. The Dragons just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row.

Era's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Chico, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Era beat Chico 37-24 when the teams last played on January 3rd. Will Era repeat their success, or does Chico have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
