The Pillager Huskies won the last time they faced the New York Mills Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Pillager came out on top against New York Mills by a score of 61-50. Given Pillager's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while New York Mills is ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Pillager to victory were Parker Schaefer and Christian Hooge. Schaefer scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Hooge dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hooge has scored at least a third of Pillager's points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Imdieke, who scored six points along with two steals.
Pillager is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for New York Mills, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pillager will take on Wadena-Deer Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wadena-Deer Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,266 points over their last 18 matchups. As for New York Mills, they will be playing at home against Henning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for New York Mills: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Henning has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
