The Frontier Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Cameron Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Frontier's last matchup with Bridgeport could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Cougars lost 8-1 to the Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.
Frontier saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austyn Kephart, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Cameron waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Fighting Irish with a sharp 11-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Landen Francis and Hunter Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Francis pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Evans didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Francis went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Evans went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Soier Reed was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Skyler Cooey was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Cameron's record is now 13-3. As for Frontier, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Frontier has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cameron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Frontier came up short against Cameron in their previous matchup last Wednesday, falling 12-9. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
