The Paris Greyhounds will take on the Berea Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paris will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Berea's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Paris hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Greyhounds' pitcher stepped up to hand Menifee County a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Xavier Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dexter Leverett and Cameron Mays did most of the damage at the plate: Leverett scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Mays scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Mays a new career-high in RBI (two). Ayden Hawkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Paris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Berea came up short against Jackson City on Saturday, falling 15-5.
Berea saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake King, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that King snagged this season.
Berea's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Paris, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Paris has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Berea struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Paris' way against Berea in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Paris made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
