The South Pointe Griffins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-29 bruising from Imagine Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Pointe has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why South Pointe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Prince Sohn. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Corwin Hubbard, who scored five points along with five assists.
Imagine Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Heuseveldt, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Heuseveldt hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mack Oliver, who scored 11 points.
South Pointe now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Imagine Prep, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
South Pointe will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Daniel Schoen and Sohn. As for Imagine Prep, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Eduprize is ranked 22nd, while the Storm are ranked 11th).
