The Sanford Warriors waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Tower Hill by a score of 69-56. Given Sanford's advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Hillers are ranked 28th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sanford found their leader in underclassman Marquis Newson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newson has scored all season. Jayden Taylor was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Sanford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Tower Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.
Sanford will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Howard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 338 points over their last five matches. As for Tower Hill, they will head out on the road to take on the Buccaneers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Caravel will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
