Softball Recap: Bound Brook Wins Going Away Against Montgomery

While Bound Brook put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Montgomery. The Crusaders blew past the Cougars 14-0. The contest marked the Crusaders' most dominant victory of the season.

Mia Marusiak made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Bound Brook got a massive performance out of Kathy Reyes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was Reyes' first of the season. Isabella Marusiak was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Bound Brook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Bound Brook's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9. As for Montgomery, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bound Brook will welcome Middlesex at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Montgomery, they will challenge STEMCivics at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
