Basketball Recap: Flanagan-Cornell Sets Scoring Season-High Against Midland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Flanagan-Cornell). They enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over the Midland Timberwolves on Tuesday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 393rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Flanagan-Cornell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Ruddy out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Connor Reed, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Flanagan-Cornell's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Midland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan-Cornell will head out to square off against Earlville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flanagan-Cornell is facing Earlville at the right time seeing as Earlville is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Midland, they will venture away from home to take on Dwight at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dwight has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
