On Friday, the Pleasant Grove Vikings faced the Lone Peak Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pleasant Grove fell 60-50 to Lone Peak. It was the first time this season that Pleasant Grove let down their fans at home.
Lone Peak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chamberlain Burgess out in front who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Burgess has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ike Staley, who scored 16 points.
Pleasant Grove's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4. As for Lone Peak, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6.
Pleasant Grove will square off against American Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Fork is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Lone Peak, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Skyridge at 7:30 p.m. Skyridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.4 points per game.
