Randolph is 8-1 against Great Hearts Northern Oaks since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Randolph Ro-Hawks will be playing at home against the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Randolph is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Nixon-Smiley on Tuesday as Randolph made off with a 21-2 victory. With that win, the Ro-Hawks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Meanwhile, Great Hearts Northern Oaks got the win against New Braunfels Christian Academy on Monday by a conclusive 19-5. That looming 19-5 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Griffins yet this season.
Mathias Garcia and Nicholas Franzese made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Garcia struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Franzese struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Garcia a new career-high. At the plate, Garcia scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Franzese scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Garcia also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Great Hearts Northern Oaks got a massive performance out of Eli Mazeika, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Great Hearts Northern Oaks is undefeated when Mazeika posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Stasney, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Great Hearts Northern Oaks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Great Hearts Northern Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Randolph moved to 4-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Randolph has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Great Hearts Northern Oaks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Randolph came out on top in a nail-biter against Great Hearts Northern Oaks when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will Randolph repeat their success, or does Great Hearts Northern Oaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
