Mountain Ridge has gone 8-2 against Boulder Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge will look to defend their home field against Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Boulder Creek will be up against a hot Mountain Ridge team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Mountain Ridge put the hurt on Millennium with a sharp 8-2 win on Friday.
Gianna Torres was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ainsley Cottrell was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Bailee Mitchell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Mountain Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Boulder Creek got themselves on the board against Apollo on Monday, but Apollo never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Hawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Avery Gurr and McKenzie Hernandez dominated on the mound. Gurr tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Hernandez pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Naomi Gregory, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikayla McCoy, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Mountain Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Boulder Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Both Mountain Ridge and Boulder Creek just can't seem to miss. Mountain Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Boulder Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
