Elk Grove (Calif.) and
Grant (Sacramento, Calif.) both tightened up defensively, but Elk Grove managed to score enough to pull out the 7-3 victory.
The Thundering Herd scored on a rushing touchdown to secure the victory.
The Pacers pulled ahead on a field goal, and subsequently went into halftime leading 3-0. Elk Grove scored the winning points with a touchdown run by
Tommy Arnold that came in the third quarter.
With the win EG extended its winning streak to seven games. Elk Grove defeated Laguna Creek 46-6 last week.
The Thundering Herd had given up an average of 4.3 points prior to the contest. The three points that Grant ended with were well below its average of 30.5 coming into the game.
The loss comes after Grant defeated Franklin 30-20 last week.
In a Delta Valley Conference game next week Elk Grove (7-0) takes on Franklin, and Grant (4-3) will go up against Monterey Trail also in a Delta Valley Conference game.
