The Cascade Cadets waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 62-48 victory over Speedway. With that victory, Cascade brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Connor Sanders was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Toby Savini was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Speedway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Matelic, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Short, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Speedway struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cascade racked up 21 assists.
Cascade is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Speedway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Speedway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Artesians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Martinsville has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
