The Potlatch Loggers will take on the Genesee Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Potlatch will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Potlatch barely beat Troy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Loggers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Trojans on Tuesday. The Loggers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Potlatch got a massive performance out of Waylan Marshall, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Marshall hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Carpenter, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Potlatch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Troy only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Genesee was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Kendrick, falling 12-2. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Genesee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Holmes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.
Potlatch's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Genesee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Potlatch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Genesee struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Potlatch took their victory against Genesee when the teams last played on Saturday by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Loggers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
