Independence/Gilmanton extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 16-2 to the Blair-Taylor Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indees of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Independence/Gilmanton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Blair-Taylor, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.
On Blair-Taylor's side, Ty Tranberg and Brady Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Tranberg tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Thompson struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Tranberg went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Thompson went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colby Dahl, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kole Trapp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Independence/Gilmanton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-3 loss against Bruce on the 30th. As for Blair-Taylor, they will venture away from home to challenge Pepin/Alma at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.89 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
