MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -
Xavier (Middletown, Conn.) kept up a steady attack all game long to upset
Middletown (Conn.), 41-14, on Saturday.
The Falcons were up 21-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
DeAngelo Berry in the first quarter.
Xavier expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. XHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by
Tim Boyle to
James Sullivan.
With the win the Falcons extended their winning streak to five games. Xavier defeated the Blue Devils 42-7 last week.
Boyle was the top performer for XHS. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Blue Dragons'
Dario Highsmith played well. He threw two touchdowns.
Middletown came in allowing just 9.2 points per game this season. MHS struggled against the Falcons, which came in averaging 44.4 points per game. Xavier came in allowing an average of 18.0 points per game this season.
When the two teams played each other last season, XHS came away with a 48-6 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Middletown, which notched a 35-10 victory over Hartford Public in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Blue Dragons' 3-game winning streak.
