On Saturday, the Riverton Wolverines faced the Evanston Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton fell 52-41 to Evanston. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Riverton has scored all season.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Paxton, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrick DeVries, who scored nine points along with three steals and three blocks.
Riverton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Evanston, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Riverton will head out on the road to challenge Kelly Walsh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Riverton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. As for Evanston, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Green River at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Evanston is facing Green River at the right time seeing as Green River is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
