The Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the First Coast Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Episcopal School of Jacksonville is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville barely beat Bartram Trail the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bears on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Riley Valent was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Episcopal School of Jacksonville got a massive performance out of Crissie Clayman, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Clayman has posted since back in March of 2024. Amelia Oreair was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartram Trail only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, First Coast suffered their closest defeat since March 14, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Tocoi Creek by a score of 3-1. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Toros recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
First Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Edmonds, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for First Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Everything went Episcopal School of Jacksonville's way against First Coast in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Episcopal School of Jacksonville made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
