Woodside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Gloucester Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Woodside came up short against Kecoughtan and fell 18-10.
Meanwhile, Gloucester's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 47-19 loss at the hands of Heritage. Gloucester was down 26-6 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Woodside's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Warwick (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Gloucester, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Woodside against Gloucester in their previous meeting back in September of 2022 as the team secured a 39-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
