The West Memphis Blue Devils will take on the Trumann Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Trumann took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Memphis, who comes in off a win.
While West Memphis' victory against Gosnell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Pirates 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since April 23, 2024.
Maddox Maloy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Drew Jenkins was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Rodgers, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Trumann was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Bay.
Peyton Chaffin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Braydon Passmore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Trumann: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Box, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles.
The victory made it two in a row for West Memphis and bumps their season record up to 4-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Trumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Memphis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trumann struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
West Memphis couldn't quite finish off Trumann in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 7-5. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
