The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will square off against the Danbury Lakers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gibsonburg comes in on five and Danbury on three.
Gibsonburg had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Woodmore on Wednesday. The Golden Bears put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-1 win. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Ava Amor and Alivia Wauford made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Amor tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wauford struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Amor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Amor got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Wauford got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Wauford a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Muntz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Leah Hall was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Gibsonburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Danbury posted their closest victory since March 25th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Northwood 10-8.
Gibsonburg pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Danbury, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Gibsonburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Danbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Golden Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
