North Kitsap enjoyed a cozy 39-22 victory over Olympic on Friday. Given North Kitsap's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Olympic is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Kitsap to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Edwards, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also punched in a rushing scores. Morgan Paul was another key contributor, rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Olympic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Riley Mccoy. Despite the final result, he rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Olympic's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Silas Mcavoy and his two sacks.
North Kitsap's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Kingston and 1-8 North Mason (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Olympic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
North Kitsap will be playing in front of their home fans against White River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. White River will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Olympic will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Orting at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Orting is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
