This season hasn't been kind to the Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were dealt a 64-9 defeat at the hands of Pope County on Wednesday. Joppa-Maple Grove was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-3.
Pope County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahry Comer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Comer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Hogg, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Joppa-Maple Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Pope County, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Joppa-Maple Grove will look to defend their home court on Monday against Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. Pope County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Galatia/Thompsonville at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Galatia/Thompsonville comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
