Poinciana has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Lake Nona Lions at TBD on Monday. Poinciana has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Poinciana at home against the Broncos as the squad secured a 70-24 win.
Poinciana got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keyanna Stanley out in front who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Stanley continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Natalia Calderon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Lake Nona had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Freedom 42-28 on Thursday. That looming 42-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lake Nona yet this season.
Lake Nona found their leader in underclassman Nadeen Elgamal, who scored ten points.
Poinciana's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Lake Nona, their win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-12.
Poinciana came up short against the Lions in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, falling 48-36. Can Poinciana avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
